Harry Whitty Quartet

Harry Whitty is a 16 year-old singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He grew up learning the piano and singing, then picked up the trombone at age 9. He started listening to jazz at around age 13 and, after hearing multi-instrumentalists like James Morrison and Jacob Collier, was inspired to learn as many instruments as possible and picked up drums, electric bass, trumpet and euphonium.

His songwriting is inspired by many songwriters such as Oli Rockberger, Theo Katzman, Jamie Cullum and Stevie Wonder, as well as songwriters such as Cole Porter. His debut EP entitled ‘Trying My Best’ features 5 of Harry’s original songs on a variety of topics, with some less serious than others. They are a mix of funk, pop and jazz. On the EP, Harry plays all the instruments as well as performing all the vocals. Physical copies are for sale at most gigs.

Most gigs Harry plays are with his band ‘The Harry Whitty Quartet’ which consists of:
Harry Whitty – Vocals, keys, trombone.
Harry Gripper – alto saxophone.
Jacob Robinson – Upright Bass.
Finlay O’Hara – Drums.

They have a fortnightly residency at the Scallywag Café in Tunbridge Wells on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month, as well as playing gigs at pubs, bars and music venues in Kent, Sussex and London.
