And we’re off! Enjoy the weekend!

26th July: The Standard Lamps, Wheels, and Lily Denning

The Local & Live Sessions at Trinity Theatre, Saturday 26th July

Doors 7pm, music from 8pm.

The next Local & Live Sessions takes place on Saturday Juy 26th and features The Standard Lamps, Wheels and Lily Denning.

10pm – The Standard Lamps

Paul says:

“No one does Local & live at Trinity like The Standard Lamps. Formed in late 2009 by Mike Wilton, The Standard Lamps believe that it’s about time that we took things back to basics. Playing countless gigs in the South East, The Standard Lamps have been pleasing audiences since Early 2010. Their music can be described as a mixture of melodic tunes with a raw blues edge. With their first EP ‘Portland’ (2010) and debut album ‘Sell Everything You Own’ (2012) already under their belts, the band released 3 limited edition singles in 2003. A second album is now being recorded and planned for a release for Sept/Oct 2014. The band has recently supported the likes of Wilko Johnson, Roger Daltrey, Mark Morriss, The Pretty Things and Tom Williams And The Boat. Ex Rolling Stone Bill Wyman describes them as ‘Refreshing with very nice arrangements and interesting songs’”.

The Standard Lamps believe in sounding where you come from. The Standard Lamps believe in variety. The Standard Lamps believe having fun with what you’re doing. The Standard Lamps believe in giving you a good time. The Standard Lamps are: Mike Wilton: Guitar, Vocals, James Livett: Bass, Matt Bennie: Drums.

9pm – Wheels

Paul says:

“If Neil Young had ever written songs with the Velvet Underground and The Doors, then that would probably be the closest thing to describing how Wheels sound. Enjoy!”

Take four guys who’ve known each other for years, all obsessed with music and you get a lot of late nights and one of the most exciting rock and roll bands in the country. Five years in, and Wheels have gained a loyal following from their live shows and their first album Ten Popular Melodies (on Easy Action records). Live favourites such as Wilderness Blues, Who’s counting, Roulette and We can never go back are a mix from Ten Popular Melodies and their second album Make your own World, due for release this summer. Take the live energy of The Replacements, early Aerosmith and Thin Lizzy with songwriting influences from Bowie, Velvets, Neil Young and Big Star, you start getting the picture. Be that person who can say you were into Wheels before they were big!

8pm – Lily Denning

Paul says

“Lily Denning is a remarkable songwriting talent. Accompanied by her sister Jessie on Guitar and vocals, Lily offers a range of beautiful heartfelt songs, Catchy pop melodies and spine tingling harmonies. Lily was recently played on BBC Radio 2 by Dermot O’Leary.”
